The morning portion of this course covers all aspects of Ladder Company operations including sections on forcible entry, search and rescue, laddering, ventilation, VEIS, overhaul, salvage, utility control, and apparatus positioning. Specific attention is given to the use of the Click System to properly select, position, and raise ground ladders with a precision not addressed in most fire departments or academies. Further, Vent, Enter, Isolate, and Search will be analyzed with an emphasis on the close the door doctrine, flow path control, and go or no-go guidelines. The afternoon portion of this course covers what it takes to be an effective officer and an integral part of the organization, whether you are an Incident Commander or a task-level operator. Company and Battalion level integrity and accountability include proper decentralization of the fireground to maximize both accountability and information gathering which allows an addressing of strategies, accountability and safety. PARs will be discussed as well as structural fire analysis, risk management and the Officers role in supervision in order to meet our highest priority: Get em in safe, work em safe, and get em out safe.
