Withdraw Process

“Please be kind and withdraw if you’re unable to attend an upcoming class. We have many people waiting to register for classes that are currently full. This includes many Zoom classes. We are now issuing “No show” notices for students who do not withdraw and then fail to attend classes. Click the Log In button (Log In button is in blue box at top right of keanfiresafety.com home screen.) The next page you will be directed to is: www.keanolt.ourclassroom.net (background photo is Newark, NJ.) Login to your account. Click the down arrow at My Courses and you’ll see a dropdown menu that include the course(s) in which you have Registered/Enroled. Click on the class from which you want to Unenrol/Withdraw. Click the Cog (box with gears icon) to the left of My Courses. Click the picture of the Cog that is on the next screen. Confirm that the course showing on the screen is indeed the class from which you’d like to Unenrol/Withdraw. Click the link that reads “Unenrol me from (class name). Click the Continue to confirm the unenrol/withdraw.”

Please use the Course Brochure for planning and verification

Please be sure to use the Course Brochure, located for download at www.keanfiresafety.com for all planning and course verification. The brochure includes registration instructions, how to unenroll instructions, credit amount information, course information, location and driving directions, and the CEU Matrix. In the case of a conflict, we go by the information printed in the brochure as it is more accurately proofread. Please verify all course registration information with the course brochure. The course catalog on the online registration site is not the same as the course brochure available on this page.

Course Brochure vs. Course Catalogue

Please note, the Course Catalogue option on the registration site is NOT the same as the Course Brochure on this site. Please use the Course Brochure, link offered above, to begin your planning. The CEU Matrix is located at the end of the Course Brochure, which is a pdf document. Scroll down to the final two pages. In all instances of conflicting information between the registration site and the Course Brochure, we will follow what the Course Brochure has listed. What to do if you’re missing either Part A or B of Drill Ground Instructor

Dear Student, If, in the recent past you have taken only Part A or Part B of Drill Ground Instructor and need the missing half for your renewal, we will accommodate you. Please follow these instructions: Email us at the following addresses: firesafety@kean.edu, jsteele@kean.edu and kloalbo@kean.edu  with your name and DFS ID number. Note the part you are missing, either part A or B. Indicate the date and location you’d like to attend. Part A classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. and dismiss at the break for lunch. Part B will begin approximately 12:30 p.m. and conclude at the end of the class. Here are the date/location options: October 21 Ocean County Fire Academy November 8 Morris County Fire Academy November 18 Hunterdon County Fire Academy December 6 Atlantic County Fire Academy You must notify us at least 48 hours in advance of the date of the class in order for us to add you to the roster. This arrangement is available to students who currently have only one of the parts of Drill Ground Instructor that was previously offered in Zoom format. What to do if I’m being directed to your profile page while enrolling

If, while enrolling, you are directed to your profile page, you most likely have missing data. Take a look at the fields on the page, such as date of birth, phone number, etc. If any are blank, please enter the information requested and click the Update Profile button. You should then return to the home page and attempt to enroll. After completing an enrollment, you can verify enrollment by checking if the class appears in My Courses by clicking the down arrow to the right of the words, My Courses. If your class(es) appear there, then you are enrolled.

FAQ’s Regarding CEU Credit/myNJ Account Questions

Q: Where can I find my CEU credit(s)? A: CEU credit is found on your myNJ account at www.nj.gov. Once logged in, click the link for the Firefighter’s Certification System. This will bring you to your personal information page and you will click the button CEU Completed to view your credits. Q: What do I do if I don’t see a class I attended listed on my myNJ account? A: Email us at firesafety@kean.edu, cc: kloalbo@kean.edu and ldumont@kean.edu with your first and last name, DFS ID number, Name of missing class and date of the class. Q: What if I only have a myNJ account for Pension or MBoss? A: Email us at firesafety@kean.edu for an authorization code and include your first and last name and DFS ID number. Please note, you will need to sign up for a separate account at www.nj.gov on the login screen in order to enter your authorization code. Do NOT enter your authorization code on an account for Pension or MBoss. Q: I took an exam but the academy didn’t notify me of my results. How do I find out if I passed? A: Log in to your myNJ account at www.NJ.gov. Click on the Firefighter’s Certification System. This will bring you to your personal information page and you will click the button CEU Completed to view whether you passed of failed.

No Show Notice?

Please note, if you’ve recently received a “No Show” notice, there are three possible reasons: You didn’t withdraw in time. In order for our office to create a roster for use in a class, online withdraws need to be made at least 24 hours before the class. For example, you’re registered for a class on Wednesday, that begins at 8:30. You would need to withdraw online BEFORE 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. If you have an emergency after that point, please email us at firesafety@kean.edu to request a withdraw. Your camera wasn’t turned on and/or the facilitator was unable to observe you in class for the majority of time the class was in session. You didn’t attend.
